Our 3 pups
Our 3 pups
Well, I walk past this thing every day. This is becoming a tradition for me:
As the annual flu season approaches, medical professionals are again encouraging people to get flu shots. Perhaps you are among those who rationalize skipping the shot on the grounds that “I never get the flu” or “if I get sick, I get sick” or “I’m healthy, so I’ll get over it.” What you might not realize is that these vaccination campaigns for flu and other diseases are about much more than your health. They’re about achieving a collective resistance to disease that goes beyond individual well-being — and that is governed by mathematical principles unforgiving of unwise individual choices.

My Mom spent some serious time putting together Christmas Stockings and Tree Skirts for each of her kids:

My stocking…I believe Grandma DeLay (my Dads Mom) made it.
The 2nd from the left is the stocking my mother made for me
The 3rd is a stocking she made for Marti
The 4th is a stocking Grandma DeLay made for Marti
The semi-circle over the hearth is a tree skirt my Mom made. It’s in the shape of a circle, if you lay it out, but it’s folded in half for the picture. She put some very serious time into that needle-point project.
The Takes girls (my sister-in-law and her two daughters) made the tree skirt at the bottom.
This weekend, we went to see “We Gotta Bingo” – Chicago’s hilarious Interactive Dinner Theater Experience. I’d like to include some pics from their website here, but copyright laws say that’s not really a good idea. That said, check out their website: www.wegottabingo.com
This was one of the best shows we’ve been to yet. It wasn’t super flashy or formal, but that’s kinda what made it awesome.

This is the Chicago Christmas Tree. I walk past this spot to/from work every day (Millenium Park). It’s on the miracle mile here in Chicago. Check it out if you get the chance. More pics are in this article.
This gallery contains 8 photographs in all as photograph etc.
This is a weather app for Linux/Unix machines that runs in a basic terminal (no graphics needed). In the nerd world, this is pretty cool.
If you are getting e-mails you don’t want, it can be tough to see where they are coming from. Spammers (and anyone else) can edit the “from” address and such, to confuse you.
This article shows you a couple of tools that can help you track the source of an e-mail. I hate spam…this may help.
It’s hard enough to know what a great grand uncle is, let a lone what a 2nd cousin might be. If you throw in a 3rd aunt, twice removed, I have no idea what that is.
But, the picture (chart) below puts it simply.

We certainly love to sleep – to some of us, sleep is a luxury, to others, it may even be a hobby or a favorite pastime. A common problem for almost everyone you know in this generation would probably be to wake up in time! Be it for work, class, meetings, or the day’s activities, the alarm clock is a must-have item in the bedroom. But if you’re bored with the mundane ringing, hand-sized clocks that you can easily throw out the window to shut up, then you are going to love this list.
